Because of its popularity in England alone, there are hundreds upon hundreds of football clubs and anything about football news would always become a headline in the sports channels in the UK. There are actually three football clubs that are named Westfield: the Westfield Football Club in Surrey, the Westfield Football Club in Sussex and the Westfields Football Club (also known as Westfields F. C.). These clubs should not be confused by each other because their differences are evident not only in their football training but also with regard to their history, their insignia and much more.
The Westfield Football Club in Surrey is an amateur football club and they are based in the Westfield area of Woking, England, thus, the name. They have an affiliation with the Surrey County Football Association and they are also proud and active members in the Premier Division of the Combined Counties Football League. Their supporters have come to know them as The Field or The Yellas (Yellows). Their home colors are yellow shirt and black shorts and socks.
Established in the year 1953, they were initially known as the Westfield Boy Club and they started playing with the local Woking and District Football League. Between 1962 to 1963, they joined up with the Parthenon League and then became known simply as Westfield. In the year 1978, they became a founding member of the Combined Counties Football League, and then known as Home Counties League and this is where they have stayed up until today.
The club plays their home games at the Woking Park in Woking, Surrey, which has a capacity of about a thousand people. Major renovations were done to the area a few years ago.
The club currently keeps an 8 member staff and they are the following: John Comer as the 1st team manager, Paul Mayne as the 1st team assistant manager, Darren Pasley as the goal keeping coach, Dan Snare as the 2nd team manager, David Powell a the 2nd team assistant manager, Cleveland Clark as the under eighteen’s manager, Dave Webb as the under eighteen’s assistant manager and Steve Rocknean as the under eighteen’s coach.
Since their inception, the club has acquired quite a number of honors. Two league honors – champions in the Surrey Senior League, first runner up in the Parthenon League. They have also acquired several cup honors – as the winner in two seasons of the Surrey Senior League Cup and Surrey County Junior Cup and as runners up in the Combined Counties Football League Cup, Surrey FA Saturday Premier Cup among others.
There is also a female division of the club known as the Westfield Ladies Football Club.
